Sony has introduced a younger brother of the Xperia Z smartphone. Sony Xperia ZR model has most of the Z’s functionality while it is packed in a compact body.
Like Xperia Z the new gadget is water-and dust-proof. In this case, the manufacturer focuses on the fact that the smartphone will not only survive under water to a depth of 1.5 meters, but you can also use it there – to make photos with a 13 megapixel camera and shoot full HD video.
Sony Xperia ZR received a 4.55-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Sony uses OptiContrast OLED matrix display with support for BRAVIA Engine 2, which should improve the quality of images even in bright sunlight.
The smartphone is running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, with 1.5 gigagertsnym 4-core Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8064. The device features 2 GB of RAM, 8 GB internal.
Global sales of Sony Xperia ZR will start in May and June. The smartphone will be available in black, white, pink and turquoise colors.
